ABOUT / ENGINEERING

Engineering Standards

The invisible quality bar behind a product people can trust and a team can operate.

01 / QUALITY MODEL

What “production-ready” means to us

The exact controls depend on product risk, but these concerns should be resolved deliberately rather than left to framework defaults.

Product correctness

Critical user jobs, role behavior, edge states and business invariants have explicit acceptance evidence.

Security boundaries

Authentication, authorization, input handling, secrets, sensitive data and external trust boundaries are modeled and tested.

Accessibility

Core flows are designed for semantic navigation, keyboard/focus behavior, contrast, target size and assistive-technology compatibility where applicable.

Performance

Performance is measured against the actual user path and representative device/network conditions rather than assumed from the technology stack.

Observability

Errors, latency, important background work and high-value business events are visible enough to diagnose production behavior.

Change safety

Testing, migrations, deployment controls, rollback paths and ownership match the blast radius of change.

02 / EVIDENCE

Quality gates scale with consequence

A prototype, an internal workflow tool and a financial transaction system should not carry the same engineering ceremony. The useful standard is proportional: identify the consequence of failure, then build the smallest set of controls that makes that failure observable, recoverable and acceptably unlikely.

Our service pages link to primary platform and standards documentation where it materially affects the recommendation. Those references are context, not blanket claims that every project automatically meets every standard.

04 / CHANGE

Production-ready also means safe to change

A product that works today but cannot be changed safely is not finished engineering. We prefer understandable boundaries, explicit contracts, automated checks around valuable behavior, observable production state and documentation of consequential architecture decisions over complexity for its own sake.

Standards are inputs, not universal badges. WCAG, OWASP, NIST, Apple, Android and provider guidance are applied where relevant to the product and threat or operating model. A page linking to a standard is not proof that a specific application is compliant with every requirement of that standard.

03 / EVIDENCE

Quality is a claim until the evidence exists

The exact evidence changes with the product, but production work should have observable acceptance conditions before the launch window.

Functional evidence

Critical workflows, rules, permissions, migrations and integration behavior are exercised against representative happy and failure paths.

Accessibility evidence

Semantic structure, keyboard and focus behavior, contrast, target size and assistive-technology-critical interactions are validated against the product’s actual interfaces.

Security evidence

Authentication, authorization, data exposure, secrets, dependency risk and application-specific threats receive review proportional to consequence.

Performance evidence

Critical routes and interactions, startup or rendering, API and database behavior and expected load have measurable budgets where performance can affect the user or operation.

Operational evidence

Logs, metrics or traces where useful, alerts, backups, restore or recovery, external dependency failures and support workflows are visible enough for someone to operate the system.

Release evidence

Build and deploy paths, environment configuration, data migrations, rollback and staged release behavior are repeatable enough that launch is not a one-person ritual.
